I’ve recently realized i love the sound of the dhol!

I know, very desi of me (considering i like women’s feet, their eyes and now this, the only thing missing is daal.. hhhmm..)

This revelation came upon me by way of a song Mahi Ve sung by Josh. Now the original doesn’t have a lot of dhol in it, but then.. there’s the RDB remix!  It makes the whole song become something of an experience within itself! I listen to it in the car at full volume (with the windows rolled up mind u! im a responsible citizen afterall) and now in my office! Which reminds me.. these new headphones are great! (hats off to the chineese for making such wonderfully cheap ones! i know, they last only a couple of months, but by then, i can get new ones and praise the koreans or vietnamese for them).

Coming back to the song and the dhol, there are three places where the dhol really reverberates through you. Mixed in with the desi version of the violin and building it up to a crescendo makes you happy, excited and all spent at the same time! The lyrics, punjabi and hence required quite a bit of translation, are quite sufistic, which make this song unique in yet another aspect.

For those who have not yet sampled this wonderful conoctation for the soul, i pity you poor souls!

And i seriously suggest you get ur self a copy of the song. (Download it from here).

p.s.
This blog (and the author too) does not condone piracy. Buy the album if you like the song. Support the industry and the poor starving artists! Also, since i have bought the album i feel comfortable saying this :D

The spellchecker which comes with wordpress does not support the word “blog”! I object!
